How to be more content with life: 10 ways to stop worrying and be happy

A haiku for you about contentment:

Every day rise,
Soak up every ray of sun,
Every day sleep.

Stillness in my mind,
Contentment fills the present.
Joy in simple things.

Stop and look around.
Gratitude in heart and mind,
Contentment blossoms.

And another just because I’m feeling those vibes today!

Yeah that song was right.
Life is short, all we know is:
You Only Live Once.

What is contentment, anyway?

Contentment is a state of being satisfied or at ease with one's current situation or circumstances. It is a feeling of inner peace and fulfillment that comes from appreciating and accepting what one has, rather than constantly striving for more.

Contentment does not mean complacency or lack of ambition. It is the ability to find joy and happiness in the present moment while still working towards future goals. It is a mindset that values gratitude, simplicity, and mindfulness. Contentment can bring a sense of calm and balance to life, and can help individuals to better navigate challenges and adversity.

What does it feel like?

It feels like relief. Less itching and squirming when you think about your current situation and where you want to be, because you know you’re on your way. It feels like trusting yourself. It feels like confidence in your decisions, a weight off your shoulders, and the ability to shield off incoming bad advice.

Visioning brings more contentment than you can find anywhere else

With Visioning, you have both the joy of living your Vision right away and basking in that success, while also working toward your ideal future one step at a time.

Ruminate less and worry less about your choices because you know where you’re headed and you’re also taking steps to feel happier every day by living your Vision right now.

Okay so how do I get it!?

Practice, young Padawan. Follow these tips and you’ll be on your way to inner peace daily.

10 ways to be more content with your life

  1. Create your Vision. Without knowing your core values, nonnegotiables, and where you’re headed, it will be hard to look around and see all the ways you’re living your ideal life. If you have your own internal compass you believe in 100%, you’ll be far less apt to compare yourself to others or take bad advice. Explore a Vision course to get started.

  2. Practice gratitude. Taking moments – even if small – to look around you and be grateful for what you have, can have lasting positive psychological effects. Focus on the things that you have, instead of focusing on the things you don’t.

  3. Find beauty in simplicity. A beautiful sunrise, a night in with your loved one, a funny moment that ends in belly laughs. Soak these moments up and see their beauty.

  4. Stay in touch. Cultivate your relationships with your loved ones, and outline how you want to show up for your friends and family in your Vision. A phone call with an old friend can really do wonders. Also, you’ll probably find out that everyone you thought had the perfect life on Instagram, is also going through stuff!

  5. Love yourself. This takes practice. Respect yourself, and start doing the things that bring you joy and peace.

  6. Let it go. This isn’t an exercise in whether or not to forgive, but you must accept that something happened if it’s in the past. Instead ask yourself, how do you want to show up from here on out?

  7. Make space for yourself. Clear your brain from limiting beliefs and intentionally shift your thoughts to something positive.

  8. One step at a time. Every day, even if you just feel a little bit better than you did the day before, you’re making progress. Small steps add up. Daily Visioning can turn this feeling around as soon as tonight.

  9. Rest. Take care of your health, physically and mentally. Listen to your body and remember nothing is worth your health and wellness.

  10. Live in the present. Practice shifting ruminating on the past to looking around you and grounding yourself in the present. Put your phone down. This moment is all we have.
